Watch Wolfgang on the Sam Dever Podcast as he tells his story about how he got into acting and his work as a teacher at Playhouse West

Wolfgang graduated from the University of Virginia where he played football for the Virginia Cavaliers and earned a degree in the fine arts. Soon after, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a tv and film writer/director. He started off at Castle Rock Entertainment working in the mailroom. After climbing his way up the production ladder, Rob Reiner hired Wolfgang to be his personal assistant on the set of the film Misery. As an aspiring writer/director, it was a huge opportunity to study Reiner’s directorial process and how he collaborated with actors Kathy Bates and Jimmy Caan and Director of Photography Barry Sonnefield.

Wolfgang’s acting career had a Hollywood beginning when Reiner had trouble casting the role of Lance Cpl. Harold Dawson in the film A Few Good Men. Originally working as the location manager on the film, Wolfgang was asked by Reiner to audition for the role. After days of intense preparation with acting coach Julie Ariola and several stressful auditions, Wolfgang got a call from Reiner and heard the words: “Welcome to the movie business. I’m offering you the role in A Few Good Men.”
Since then, Wolfgang has enjoyed a successful career working on feature films, such as Little Big League, The Expert, Goodbye America, Most Wanted, Joe Somebody, and Ragamuffin. A few of his television credits include recurring roles on Nothing Sacredand Family Law, as well as guest star appearances on hit shows like Highlander: The Series, CSINY, CSI Miami, NCIS, CANE, ER, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,and Code Black.
Wolfgang has continued to pursue his original dream by writing and directing the short films, Simone, Broken, Sarah’s Wish, and The Long Wait. All have screened in major festivals worldwide and have won several awards, including Best Short Film (Simone, The Long Wait), Best Screenplay (Broken), and Best Director (Sarah’s Wish, The Long Wait).
Wolfgang is also an acting teacher. After studying the Meisner technique at Playhouse West under the tutelage of Robert Carnegie, he was asked by Carnegie to train to become a teacher. After years of teaching at Playhouse West, he was hired to serve as the school’s director. Along with teaching a full load of classes (beginning, intermediate, and advanced), he’s also the festival director of The Playhouse West One Act Fest and The Playhouse West Film Festival, both which are annual events. He keeps the students busy by constantly directing plays, most recently, Tape by Stepehn Belber, Proof by David Auburn, and What We’re Up Against by Theresa Rebeck.
And know that when you see him smile, he's thinking about his daughter, Olivia!
